After the operation, fine tapes are attached to the incision line and dressing is applied around your eyelids with moist cotton or gauze. In the postoperative period, ice application around the eye is very important to reduce bruising and swelling that may arise. During this period, the head should be kept elevated and heavy physical activities should be avoided, especially for the first day. Depending on the type of anesthesia used, you can return home 3-4 hours after the intervention. If absorbable sutures are not used while closing up the incisions on the eyelid, your sutures will be removed after 5-7 days postoperatively. Especially in the early postoperative period, the stinging sensation in the eyes and tension on the eyelids are quite normal. If necessary, your physician may ask you to use an ointment and/or eye drops to moisturize your eyes and protect them from infection. Again in this period, if bruising forms around the eyes, sunlight should be avoided as much as possible.
Depending on the technique we use, the majority of patients do not have bruising after the surgery, while in a small group of patients, most of the swellings and bruisings recover at the end of the first week. After this period, the individual can return to work and daily social life by using camouflage make-up and sunglasses. Depending on your body’s response to the operation, differences in your healing process, and the characteristics of your work and social life, you can return to your daily routine earlier. Considering that the above-mentioned criteria will vary from person to person, it should be kept in mind that these processes may be different for each patient.
